Writing Progress, Summer 2017

Posted by on August 10, 2017

So, here’s how the writing is going.  By the end of July, I finished an important part of my revision of Cipher.  For those who don’t know, Cipher is a story of a grad student who becomes a vampire.  I’ve gone back and forth about whether this is the first book in my series with her or not.  In the end, I have decided it’s actually a prequel.  Still, it’s a good exercise, and once I’ve revised Cipher, I will revise what will actually become Book 1 in the series, Cipher’s Code.

Note, these are working titles.  I’m not sure even the name “Cipher” will remain.

I stepped aside from the revision to work on another project, a short story that will be a prequel to a mystery series set in my old hometown, Stevens Point, WI.  I’ve also written a couple other short stories that I need to do more with.  One of them came out of a silly prompt about “What if dragons and cows were the opposite: that dragons were plentiful and non-sentient and consumed as meat, while cows were rare, mystical, and powerful?”  And I’ve started a collection of flash fiction stories and meditations on the Tarot.

So, that’s what I’ve been up to this summer, writing-wise.

I’ve also been playing some video  games, so I might have some analysis/reviews coming.  We’ll see.  I keep putting that off.  But let me know if there’s interest.
